The Bjorlin Family | Pond Meadow Park Family Photographer

If Luke and Lucy don’t scream cute, I don’t know what does.  I had a great time with these guys at Pond Meadow park playing in the leaves, sliding down rocks and snapping some pics.  Enjoy the Bjorlin family!

Emily & Joel | Worcester, MA Engagement Photographer

I think Stymie from the Little Rascals said it best when he said, “You only meet a once in a lifetime friend…once in a lifetime.”  For me, Emily is that friend.  Our history is full of ups and downs, boys and breakups, laughs and ridiculous adventures, and all of the typical things you’d think would happen to teenage to twenty-something girls.

Emily went to teach at the Nativity School of Worcester after college, where she lived with her co-workers in a house called Casa Maria.  Luckily for all of us, Joel lived in the room down the hall.  Judging by the engagement shoot, I’m sure you can all tell where this story goes…

I couldn’t be happier for these two.  Their love is so natural and genuine and I couldn’t ask for a more perfect best friend for my best friend.

Enjoy!

A South African Honeymoon | Travel Photographer

On September 1, 2013, this wedding photographer and her sidekick were wed.  I’m probably biased, but it was the best wedding I’ve ever been to.  To have everyone we love in one room at once, getting along as if they were old friends, and sharing in such energy and happiness made for an unbelievable celebration.  Our amazingly talented photographer, Katie Pietrowksi, preserved each moment in such a beautiful and creative way.  We’re so happy to have had her there with us :).  (see some more of her work here).

The two weeks to follow were an unforgettable adventure.  For our honeymoon, Matt and I took the 15 hour flight across the world to South Africa.  The first stop was Gomo-Gomo Game Reserve in Hoedspruit for a 4-day safari.  We knew we were in for a treat when the ranger picked us up at the airport and told us the lions made a big kill the night before.  Even though the wakeup call was 5am everyday, Matt and I were quick to jump out of bed and see what nature had in store for us.  If anyone has the opportunity to take a safari, do it!  It’s seriously one of the most amazing experiences.  It’s a perfect balance of peaceful serenity driving through the bush or sitting by the watering hole reading, and excitement that keeps you on the edge of your seat when the ranger gets a call saying there’s been a leopard sighting.  Nature’s pretty darn cool.

From the safari we hopped on a plane to Cape Town.  At first we were in shock going from complete nature to city life, but after a day of exploring that quickly changed.  I’ve been to a lot of beautiful places, but Cape Town takes the gold.  Just a few minutes outside the bustling city are mountain ranges surrounded by endless ocean.  It’s literally 360 degrees of breathtaking views.  The history of the area was so intriguing too.  Being a history major, Matt was in heaven.  Every tour we took or neighborhood we ventured into unveiled such rich stories that kept us hooked and wanting to learn more.

We ended the trip with a night in the wine lands.  Our tour guide picked us up at 9am and by 10 we were at the first vineyard doing a tasting.  Needless to say, there were naps to be had by 3pm but the scenery and the food and wine were unbelievable.

All in all, this trip was one to remember.  Enjoy the small sample of photos from our adventure!

Callie & Will | Connecticut Wedding Photographer

Callie and Will’s wedding was a perfect little ceremony in Roxbury, Connecticut.  Though the crowd was small, they were not any less energetic on the dance floor!  The afternoon was full of positive vibes in celebration of such an awesome couple.  Callie and Will’s love filled the room, so much so that I could practically touch it.  I’m so glad I could be a part of their day.

Meghan & Joe | Smolak Farms Wedding Photographer

Meghan and Joe have been dating since High School.  On their 10th anniversary, they celebrated their wedding at Smolak Farms in Andover, MA and it couldn’t have been more perfect.  Though rain was all over the weather reports, it was a beautifully sunny day filled with laughter, smiles, tetherball, tears, but mostly a lively celebration of an amazingly awesome, laid back and genuine couple.  I couldn’t be happier for the two of them!

Aside from all that, the venue was a rustic photography dream land!  Matt and I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating with Meghan and Joe.  Enjoy the moments we captured!

The Woods Family | Red Lion Inn, Cohasset Family Photographer

When Meghan reached out to me asking to photograph her wedding, I was beyond excited.  Growing up, Meghan, Katie and I were best friends.  We hung with the athletic crowd, playing soccer, running track and swimming together.  I remember during the indoor soccer season, we’d pull our hair back in tight pony tails and spray the crap out of it until it was hard and crunchy.  We couldn’t be bothered by hair distracting us while we were trying to score goals!

Over college we didn’t stay in close touch, but being granted the opportunity for a reunion was so great.  The day before Meghan and Joe’s wedding, I was asked to shoot a family session with everyone, since it’s not often they are all in one place at the same time.  Though there were a few more (amazingly cute) additions to the family, everyone was basically unchanged, and I felt right at home once again.  The weekend was such a blast!

Callie & Will | Connecticut Engagement Photographer

Callie, Will and I spent an awesomely sunny day walking around what I consider a photographer’s dream landscape, which also happens to be Callie’s backyard.  In the small town of  Roxbury, Connecticut,  Callie and Will met, fell in love, and decided to get married.  If you saw them together, you’d see right at first glance that they are absolutely meant for each other.  Their genuine personalities and love for life are contagious, which made this engagement session a blast!  Documenting stories like theirs is certainly the best way to spend an afternoon.

Enjoy!

The Hurlberts | Connecticut Maternity Photographer

Being from Boston, after hearing someone beep at you for no reason while you’re in a crosswalk, the first instinct is to glare at the angry, road-raged driver, trying to suppress your own anger toward them for disturbing you in a crosswalk.  In the small town of Tolland, Connecticut however, life is a little different, especially when you’re walking around town with Bryan, former State Representative.  Turns out people beeping down there are trying to wave hello and chat for a few, which was a very pleasant surprise!

This session with Tracy and Bryan was so great.  Spending the day walking around town with them showed me what amazing parents they’ll be.  Their love for each other is tangible, and their contagious smiles and openly friendly personalities are amazing traits that are bound to be passed along to their baby girl.  She is definitely a lucky little lady!

The Flahertys | Brookline, MA Maternity Photographer

There are lot of things in this world that make me happy.  One of those things, I recently discovered, is the pure excitement, panic and anticipation that two people feel when the due date of their first child is swiftly approaching.  Jes and Steve’s story is no different.  I was grateful when I was asked to shoot this couple since they’re near and dear to my heart.  I  have been just as excited, eager and happy as them the past 9 months waiting to meet their new little boy.

On the day of our shoot, baby Coleman was dancing around mom’s belly, as he had been for months, perfectly content with being in front of the camera. Jes and Steve were fun subjects to photograph too since life is too short to be taken too seriously for these two.

During Hurricane Sandy, on October 29, Coleman decided he was ready for the limelight and Jes and Steve welcomed their healthy and happy son into the world.  At a whopping 9 pounds, 22 inches, he is definitely potential Rugby player material like his dad.

Check back soon for newborn shots of the little guy!  Until then, enjoy Jes and Steve’s maternity shoot.

Cooking Live NYC | Family Reach Foundation

Recently, I was asked to help a friend out by photographing a fundraising benefit she was putting on.  I didn’t know it at first, but not only did this opportunity prove to be an amazing experience as a photographer, but also an eye opening and amazingly rewarding event to be a part of.  The event was called “Cooking Live” and it took place at the Ritz Carlton in New York City.  Host Chef Ming Tsai was accompanied by Chefs Mario Batali, Floyd Cardoz, James Dangler, Marc Forgione, Masaharu Morimoto and Laurent Richard and “sous chef” Matt Damon.  Each prepared a meal and explained to the audience the step by step process of doing so.  Once the instructions were given, the other chefs helped out on the line and made a dish for each person in the room.  Sadly, I couldn’t try any of the dishes, but as you can see in the photos below, they looked, and smelled, amazing.

The proceeds of this event benefitted the nonprofit called the Family Reach Foundation.  Their mission is to provide financial relief and heartfelt support to fighting cancer, particularly for children affected by the illness.  Grants are given to affected families to pay mortgage or rent payments, utilities, transportation to and from treatment and certain medical expenses not covered by insurance.  The amazing thing about this foundation is that these requests are usually fulfilled within 7-10 days because speed is crucial to these families when they require urgent support.  So once everyone’s bellies were full with delicious food, the real meat and potatoes of the evening was served: the story of Mikalo and his mom Raquel.

Mikalo was diagnosed with Leukemia before he was two years old.  Raquel, a single mother, had to make the difficult decision to leave her job and stay with her baby boy throughout his treatments.  Because of this choice, they eventually lost their home and were faced with bouncing between homeless shelters.  For two years they lived like this all while Mikalo was undergoing chemo treatments.  Soon they learned that Mikalo needed a bone marrow transplant, and a sterile living environment, making their current living situation impossible for his recovery.  Once Family Reach Foundation heard of their situation, they immediately stepped in and provided a living environment  that allowed him to get the treatment he needed.

If you’d like to learn more about or make a donation to the foundation, feel free to visit their website: www.familyreach.org.  This event was such a fun and rewarding thing to be a part of and I hope the photos do the night justice!

Robyn & Scott | Weymouth, MA Wedding Photographer

Robyn and Scott had been engaged for about a year when they decided to elope.  Since both had been married before, the couple thought that spending their resources this time around on a long honeymoon for themselves would be the best way to celebrate, so that’s exactly what they did!  After their wedding ceremony in Rhode Island, they spent two weeks on their boat bopping around the islands of Massachusetts soaking in the summer sun.

As they enjoyed their vacation, the invites were sent out to their closest friends and family telling them of their big news and where and when they could join them in celebrating.  Before this reception, Robyn and Scott gathered their family around their television to watch the video of their wedding ceremony.  Though their family couldn’t be there in person, the footage brought tears to their eyes and smiles of joy to their faces as if it were happening right then and there.

Below are some of these moments at the formal photo session prior to the reception party.

Dave & Courtney | Cape Cod Wedding Photographer

It takes a certain personality to put up with the unexpected stresses of your wedding day all while keeping your cool and carrying on.  For Dave and Courtney, their limits were tested, but they passed with flying colors.  It couldn’t have been a more perfect day for a Cape wedding than it was for theirs.  Their guests filled the ceremony venue, drinks in hand, ready to celebrate the new beginning for this awesome couple.  The ceremony was full of laughs and smiles, which really showed how fun these two are.  When it came time for dinner and the reception, so came test #1: the malfunctioning fire alarm.  The lights flashed and the alarm sounded for a good hour, pushing back dinner and the rest of the reception.  The solution?  Put the guests on the roof deck and have a few rounds!

Once that issue was finally resolved, everyone’s bellies were fed and all were happy, the dancing started.  No one was shy to get on the floor.  Everyone was having a great time and then came test #2: the bride’s grandmother took a pretty big slip on a spilled drink, resulting in an ambulance ride to the ER.  This was a scary time and certainly caused a deafening silence to fall over the room.  Once she was carried out, per her request, the party went on, starting back up again with the karaoke solo of the Courtney’s aunt with her version of “I Will Survive.”  It was a fitting song and definitely made everyone at ease once again.

Regardless of these hiccups, the wedding was a huge success and everyone managed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.  We had a great time capturing the happier moments and being able to be a part of Dave and Courtney’s big day!

Caroline & Charlie | Boston Save-the-Date Photoshoot

Sometimes all you need is a little bubbly to loosen up for the camera, so it’s a good thing Caroline and Charlie brought a couple of bottles to this shoot!  They popped the cork (or should I say corks) in the middle of Boston and let the bubbles fly in celebration of their New Year’s Eve wedding.  Their quirky personalities made this shoot such an enjoyable one and I’m excited to ring in the new year with them!

Lauren & Bobby | Weymouth MA Maternity Photographer

This was my very first maternity photoshoot and I have to admit, I wasn't sure what to expect.  Lauren and Bobby couldn't have been better models.  There was the panic in the back of my mind throughout the whole shoot that Lauren would go into labor since she was only due two weeks later, but luckily we made it through, and we have some fun photos for the baby album!  Though we didn't know it at the time, Lauren had a beautiful baby girl two weeks after the shoot.

The Greene Family | Hull, MA Family Photographer

The Greene family was vacationing in Hull, Ma and asked me to take their family portrait.  Little did I know that when they said they got a house on the beach, they meant the entire extended family was there as well.  Needless to say, we had a small paparazzi following us around on the shoot with their ipads and iphones, but it made things that much more easy- going and fun.  The smiles were never fake and the laughter kept up the whole time.  It's sessions like these that make my job worth it!

The Cullen Family | Quincy, MA Family Photographer

There's nothing better than shooting a group of people who know exactly what to do in front of the camera.  The Cullens were just those kinds of people and they certainly made my job easier!

Jim & Jenny | Hull, MA Wedding Photographer

As a photographer, I was both excited and nervous when my uncle Jim and now Aunt Jenny asked me to take pictures of their big day.  The event took place in a small restaurant on the beach in Hull, MA with close family the day after Christmas.  Unfortunately, this day also happened to be the biggest snow storm we've had all winter, but the show must go on!  Despite the wind and snow, the event went smoothly and everyone had a great time.  Although the outdoor shoot by the water wasn't as beautiful as anticipated (as you can see below), there were still plenty of special moments to capture.  I now present to you my very first wedding shoot.
